Job description

encoord is looking for a full-time Director of sales & business development specialized in energy network planning software to join its office in Denver, CO, USA.


About encoord

encoord provides software tools to plan today’s energy systems and their transition to a decarbonized future. Our core technology is SAInt, a software platform to model and plan energy networks & markets, including electricity and gas. Our offices are located in Denver, CO, USA and in Essen, Germany.


About the role

As the Director of sales & business development, you will work closely with encoord’s management team and will be responsible for encoord’s sales and business development strategy for North America.

From a business development perspective, your work will include the exploration and recommendation of market opportunities for our software SAInt by identifying areas where the current (and future) capabilities of SAInt are applicable and by performing a comprehensive quantitative analysis of industry trends and the competition. You will also be in charge of identifying and engaging with potential partners, securing pilots with customers, responding to DOE and other agencies’ potential funding opportunities, as well as identifying regulatory processes that impact our offerings. In addition, you will participate in conferences, and you will meet with partners and experts to ensure we remain informed on the latest trends and opportunities.

From a sales perspective, you will be in charge of encoord’s outreach strategy, including developing outreach material to ensure efficient marketing communications. You will also be responsible for customer relations and customer acquisition, including the flow of information for sales activities and transactions (including leads, billing, orders, contracts, etc.). In this role, you will also collaborate with encoord’s leadership to define new business models, including pricing and licensing schemes. Potential clients of encoord and users of SAInt include electricity and gas transmission network operators, electric and gas utilities, regulatory authorities, traders, market analysts, research and academic organizations, consulting companies, project developers, investors, and other energy stakeholders.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and expertise:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Economics, Business Administration, or Engineering
  • 10+ years of sales and/or business development experience in software to model and plan energy networks, including electricity and/or natural gas
  • Proven success leading and managing business capture of multiple customer contracts in the field of energy network planning software in North America
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and ideally in another language
